TRIUMPH VITESSE

With us at RFH Classics we have this lovely example 1971 (J) Triumph Vitesse 2.0 Convertible finished in Deep Maroon with Black Vinyl interior trim and roof. The car is in lovely order and has a little bit of an interesting history behind it having been originally purchased by the wife of a British Diplomat back in 1971.

Once the car, which she purchased new in the UK, was shipped to India it was the subject of a couple of modifications which included the addition of a second fuel tank being fitted in the right hand side of the boot along with an additional fuel pump. Now why this was done is not clear but her ownership was extensive and upon retirement she had the car shipped from India to Spain where they lived and then subsequently she drove the car back to the UK when she returned here and in total owned the car for 36 years and sold the it in September 2007. Records indicate that the 2nd owner only had it briefly as from 2008 to 2020 the extensive history file indicates the third owner spent a considerable amount maintaining and restoring the car. The fourth and final owner had the car from 2020 and part exchanged it in with us, during his ownership he has maintained the car well and replaced the interior trim along with fitting a new Mohair roof along with considerable service work.

The car is a lovely runner and the straight 6 cylinder engine has a glorious tone to it. The engine, which is a 1998cc, is paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox. The car has good oil pressure and although not standard, it sits on a slightly deeper steel wheel with chrome wheel trim. In addition to the wheels fitted we also have the original set of wheels with standard wheel trims should you want them. I am sure that the car, which benefits from a rear lap belt fitted will make a fun classic car for the whole family to enjoy.
