OPEL MANTA

With us here at RFH Classics we have this 1989 (F) Opel Manta 1.8 Exclusive finished in stunning Carmine Red with contrasting Grey cloth. This 2 owner car was supplied new by the Camden Motor Group of Leighton Buzzard on the 12th January 1989 to a Mr Dunlop. This was the 2nd Opel Manta he had purchased, the other being in the early 80’s. By all accounts he was a bit of a petrol head and had dabbled in Rallying as a student. We understand that he purchased the car thinking that, as one of the last being produced in the UK, he thought the car would appreciate in value. It lived its live under the carport at the side of the house along with his 1960’s Mini Cooper but sadly never got to realise his dream due to ill health.

The car was later secured by the 2nd owner just over 2 years ago and under his ownership he set about an extensive refurbishment of the car, the details of which are available in the history file we have for the car and all substantiated with supporting invoices. Today the car presents really well, as the pictures show, and we believe this maybe the first time the car has actually been offered on the open market since new. The bodywork is exceptionally tidy and only has minimal age related patina. As the pictures show the car is fitted with the Irmscher styling kit which makes the car just a little more unique.

Inside the car the Grey cloth has stood the test of time well and is virtually unmarked. The cabin benefits from a steel sliding sunroof, great for adding light and fresh air to the cabin. Unusually for a car of this style there is the benefit of three seat belts in the rear allowing the family to enjoy this modern classic. Under the bonnet sits the 1796cc 4 cylinder petrol engine that is paired to 5 speed manual gearbox. The car has done 39,500 miles from new which has been warranted to us by the former owner and the car drives exceptionally well and feels very nostalgic to drive.
