New to the showroom at RFH Classics we bring you this ultra-rare 1987 (E) Nissan Silvia 1.8 Turbo Coupe. Finished in Dark Grey Metallic with a contrasting Grey Velour interior, this 37 year old Silvia was first registered on the 7th of December 1987. Many might have assumed these cars were long extinct, making this an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike. The cars low mileage is supported by an extensive MOT history dating back to 1992 and confirms the car has done a little under 10k miles since 2008. A further benefit of this car is the low ownership with the third and last registered keeper buying the car in 1992.

The exterior paintwork presents remarkably well with only minor patina typical for its age. Small signs of aluminium oxidation are appearing on a few trims but overall it remains in superb condition. The car has recently undergone a professional detailing, enhancing the metallic paint’s deep shine. The iconic pop-up headlamps function perfectly and feature unique horizontal bars to protect the glass, a rare design feature. The rest of the light lenses are good bar a minor crack in the offside rear lamp, which remains watertight. The lattice-effect alloy wheels are in good condition, with new centre caps on the way. The car is fitted with matching Goodyear tyres all in excellent shape.

Inside, the condition of the velour cloth seats is remarkable with them retaining their original firmness and support. The rear seats show minimal wear, suggesting little use. The door cards, centre console and dashboard are in superb condition with the period correct orange-on-black switches. The dials, which match this retro aesthetic, are equally well preserved and the dash is complemented by a period Radio Cassette player, complete with a “Lady in Red” cassette. The boot area is clean and complete with the plywood wheel cover, fifth alloy wheel and tool kit.

Under the bonnet, the engine bay is very clean, reflecting the car’s lower mileage and careful maintenance over the years. Mechanically, the Silvia has been thoroughly prepared for sale. We’ve just replaced the cam belt and water pump and serviced its renowned 1.8L Turbocharged engine which in this car is paired to a 5 Speed manual gearbox. The Sept-25 MOT is without advisories. In the office we have a history file containing the original owners manual along with extensive receipts. Interest in modern classics like this is growing rapidly, particularly those that offer a blend of performance, reliability, and nostalgia with the older Japanese engineering becoming increasingly recognized and this Nissan Silvia is a prime example of why Japanese classics are gaining traction in today’s collector market.
