Just arrived back with us at RFH Classics we have this stunning 1978 (S) MG Midget 1500 finished in Vermillion Red with Black Trim a car which we sold earlier this year and have recently taken back in part exchange for an MGB Roadster. The last but one owner, after taking a considerable time to find the right car, set about a complete nut and bolt restoration program which resulted in the shell being stripped to bare metal, repairs or replacement panels were fitted where required before being repainting in the Glass like finish seen today. As part of the restoration the running gear for the car was rebuilt with new and powder coated suspension and engine components resulting in an engine bay and underside of the car that is equally as stunning as the bodywork. Inside the car the original factory correct vinyl seats were used to trim the car along with new carpets, trim kit and a new vinyl hood for weather protection. To complete the 4+ year restoration program the Rostyle wheels were refurbished with new tyres fitted and resulting in a car that is now probably in better condition than it left the factory when new.

Under the bonnet sits a 1491cc petrol 4 cylinder engine that is paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox with no variants of the Midget being offered with the option of an Overdrive. Turn the key in the ignition and the engine fires into life with a great oil pressure from cold and runs well when warm. In the office we have a substantial history file that confirms the car has only had 5 previous owners with one of those previous owners having the car for over 30 years. Also contained in the file are a large section of old mot tests and invoices relating to the car’s history. Please don’t mistake this car for a ‘blow over’ refurbishment, it truly is not that, this car is for sure a car that the new owner will cherish and be proud to exhibit at shows.
