With us at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this striking 1979 (T) MGB Roadster, finished in the wonderfully vibrant and period-correct shade of Inca Yellow, beautifully complemented by an upgraded Black Leather interior. Few colours capture the spirit of late-1970s British sports car motoring quite as well as Inca Yellow and it suits the clean lines and unmistakable character of the MGB Roadster perfectly.
First introduced in 1962, the MGB quickly established itself as one of Britain’s most successful and enduring sports cars. Built at the famous Abingdon factory, the model combined attractive Pininfarina-influenced styling with simple, dependable engineering and an engaging driving experience. Over its eighteen year production run more than half a million examples were produced, making it one of the most popular open sports cars ever built. Today the MGB remains one of the most enjoyable and accessible classic cars to own, supported by excellent parts availability and a strong enthusiast following.
Under the bonnet sits the well proven 1798cc B-Series engine, offering the smooth torque and lively character that suits the MGB so well. The car starts well from cold and has good cold and hot oil pressure and benefits from the desirable overdrive gearbox operating on both third and fourth gears perfect for relaxed cruising at modern road speeds while still providing the flexibility to enjoy the car on more spirited drives. Over the years the interior has been upgraded to Black Leather interior that presents extremely well and gives the car a slightly more refined feel. A unusual and welcome addition are the heated front seats, something we rarely see on an MGB but it is a thoughtful upgrade and certainly appreciated on cooler days.
To accompany the car there is an exceptionally comprehensive history file, something we enjoy seeing with a well cared for classic. Now organised in one of our presentation folder it contains a remarkable collection of MOT certificates dating back to 1983 together with a large number of detailed service invoices and maintenance records from 1984 onwards. The paperwork helps provide a fascinating and detailed record of the car’s former life spanning more than four decades. Since arriving with us the car has benefited from a full service, new starter motor and new front road springs along with a thorough clean and preparation ready for sale.
