With us now at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this beautiful 1966 (D) MGB Roadster 1.8 finished in the rare, yet highly attractive Mineral Blue. This was a colour produced for just a short period during 1966 that suits the early chrome bumper cars particularly well and gives this example a wonderful sense of period charm.

This well kept car that has had just 4 former owners, with the last lady owner enjoying it for nearly 12 years. The car was the subject of an extensive restoration around 16 years ago with more recently it undergoing a comprehensive and sympathetic refurbishment with ourselves. When we acquired the car, the intention was to bring it back to a standard that reflects the type of vehicles we are proud to offer. As such, it has benefitted from a program of careful attention including a full repaint in its original colour along with the replacement of numerous exterior chrome trims, resulting in a car that now presents to an exceptionally high standard.

Externally, as the pictures demonstrate, the car presents extremely well, with a deep, lustrous shine to the paintwork perfectly complemented by a set of Chrome Wire Wheels. These not only enhance the overall appearance but also give the car the classic MGB stance that so many enthusiasts look for. The combination of high quality paintwork, bright chrome and overall detailing ensures the car has real presence, whether on display or out on the road.

Inside, the car retains a lovely period feel with Black Leather seats finished with Pale Blue piping, a subtle but very effective touch that ties in beautifully with the exterior colour. The seats, carpets and trim are all in excellent condition, while the boot area has been retrimmed with a Black carpet to give a clean and complete finish throughout. The packaway hood, which stows neatly in the boot when not in use, is in very good condition, and the car also benefits from a tonneau cover for added practicality.

Under the bonnet sits the well proven B-Series 1798cc engine, running on unleaded fuel and performing exactly as it should with strong oil pressure both hot and cold. Power is delivered through a recently fully rebuilt and overhauled four speed manual gearbox, complete with fully functioning overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears, making the car far more usable on today’s modern roads. While the engine and gearbox were removed, the opportunity was taken to refinish the engine block and rocker cover in the correct maroon, ensuring the engine bay presents just as well as the rest of the car.

In the office we have an extensive service history for this car presented in one of RFH Classics presentation folders detailing old MOT tests and invoices for work done not only recently but also for many years before. Now fully prepared, this outstanding early MGB Roadster is a superb opportunity for anyone looking to step into classic motoring with confidence.

The car qualifies for historic road tax and benefits from being ULEZ exempt. Although vehicles of this age are MOT exempt, as part of our preparation process the car will be supplied with a fresh MOT test providing additional peace of mind for the next owner. As a classic it is eligible for low-cost classic car insurance and is supplied with 3 months major mechanical warranty. All of our vehicles are sold clear of finance or insurance damage with a certificate provided at handover. We recommend using premium unleaded fuel (E5) in all of our classic vehicles.
