With us here at RFH Classics we are pleased to bring you this 1982 (X) MGB Roadster LE Edition finished in its factory correct Bronze Metallic exterior paint with the upgraded Black Leather interior. The MGB LE was a limited production run of just 1,000 cars of which 420 were the Roadster and 580 were the GT variant. The LE cars were built to mark the end of the MGB being built at Abingdon and produced between 1979 and 1980 although as a special edition, it was not uncommon that many of these car were registered sometime after this which is the case with this particular car that was not registered until 1982. All the UK roadsters were finished in the unique Bronze Metallic paintwork with special LE side decals, a front chin spoiler and traditionally came with the GKN style Alloy wheel also referred to at the Stag wheel. This car benefitted from the factory option of wire wheels which was a rare option to be seen from new. We can confirm this with a copy of the accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate supplied with the car detailing the original build spec of the car.

This example of the LE Roadster benefits from both a low former ownership and an extremely low recorded mileage. It has come to us from the estate of its previous owner who, as a family, owned the car for the past 19 years. Looking around the car and its condition would indicate that the low recorded mileage is correct however at this time we cannot verify it due to the absence of supporting history, this may follow in due course. The car is offered in excellent condition and has clearly been very well cared for. It would appear the car has been the subject of a very well executed older restoration that is reflected in it the condition today. The car remains to the original specification although the cloth deck chair trim has now been replaced with Black Leather Seat covers complementing the Bronze Paintwork very well. Under the bonnet the 1.8 Litre 4 cylinder petrol engine is running lead free and paired to a four speed manual gearbox with Overdrive to 3rd and 4th. This MGB LE Roadster is an excellent opportunity to acquire an exceptionally clean example of Britain’s most beloved sports car. While the car lacks a detailed history file which is reflected in the asking price, we feel its condition speaks for itself and it is now ready to be enjoyed as a stylish classic with a genuine collector’s pedigree.
