With us at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this very elegant 1961 MGA 1600 Mk1 Coupe, a car that perfectly captures the refined and purposeful design that has made the MGA Coupe such a sought after and usable classic today. Finished in the desirable Orient Red the car comes complete with a Black Leather interior featuring a subtle Red piping providing a colour combination that works exceptionally well on the Coupe as it highlighting the clean, flowing lines and giving the car a sophisticated presence when compared to its open top counterpart.

This car comes to us from long term previous ownership and has clearly been both very well cared as well as a very well maintained example. The car was the subject of an older restoration which has settled nicely and still presenting today as a smart, honest and usable example with a couple of very subtle, yet virtually unseen upgrades. This is exactly the sort of car that can be driven and enjoyed rather than something that has been overly restored or is too delicate.

As mentioned, the car has a couple of very sensible mechanical upgrades that really go towards enhancing the driving experience and yet without detracting from its original character. Most notably is the addition of a 5 speed gearbox conversion helping to transforms the cars drivability on modern roads and allowing for a more relaxed cruising with those longer journeys now being far more comfortable. This upgrade is complemented by addition of the twin SU carburettors which help the car deliver strong and responsive performance and giving it the feel that an MGA should have.

Externally the car presents exceptionally well with lovely body work and sitting on a beautiful set of chrome wire wheels with eared spinners, a feature that always suits and adds to the period appeal. The addition of a chrome boot rack not only enhances the look but also offers a practical touch for touring or weekend picnics and reinforcing the car’s usability for weekend trips and longer drives.

The MGA Coupe itself is often regarded as the more refined and practical choice within the MGA range, offering improved weather protection and a more comfortable cabin environment, making it a particularly appealing option for those looking to use their classic regularly rather than just on the occasional sunny day.

Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file complete with old MOT Records, Original Buff Style Log Book confirming this car has always been a UK registered along with receipts and maintenance records. Although vehicles of this age are MOT exempt, as part of our preparation process the car will be supplied with a fresh MOT test providing additional peace of mind for the next owner. As a classic it is eligible for low-cost classic car insurance and is supplied with 3 months major mechanical warranty. All of our vehicles are sold clear of finance or insurance damage with a certificate provided at handover. We recommend using premium unleaded fuel (E5) in all of our classic vehicles.
