Finished in the ever popular Tartan Red and complemented by a Grey Cloth interior, this chrome bumper Roadster has recently arrived with us in part exchange and offers an excellent opportunity to own one of Britain’s most iconic sports cars at a refreshingly accessible price.

The exterior presents well overall with a bright finish that belies its years. Naturally, there are a few age-related imperfections consistent with a classic that has been enjoyed rather than hidden away, but the car remains smart, honest and full of character. The wing top seams appear to be in good order and the car sits proudly on a set of traditional painted Wire Wheels which we have just fitted with four new matching tyres, giving it the timeless appearance that has made the chrome bumper MGB such an enduring favourite.

Inside, practicality has taken precedence over originality with the fitment of a pair of Mazda MX-5 seats, and while not original provide comfort and support, particularly on longer journeys. Complementing the interior is a wood dashboard, creating a welcoming cabin from which to enjoy open-top motoring.

Under the bonnet sits the proven 1798cc B-Series engine running on super unleaded fuel and displaying excellent oil pressure both from cold and once fully warmed up. The engine is paired with the four speed manual gearbox that incorporates overdrive on both third and fourth gears, all operating exactly as they should on the journeys we have undertaken in the car.

The car has recently passed its latest MOT test with no advisory items, giving additional confidence to its next owner and reinforcing its reputation as an honest, mechanically pleasing example. Rather than undertaking the level of cosmetic refurbishment we would normally carry out before offering one of our classics for retail sale, we have chosen to present this Roadster honestly and price it accordingly. We believe that gives its next owner the opportunity to purchase a well-sorted chrome bumper MGB at a sensible price, leaving them free to simply enjoy the car or enhance it further over time if they wish.
