Stunning & Unique Example
MG MGB
Convertible 1.8 Roadster (1977/S)
With us now at RFH Classics we are pleased to bring you this very distinctive 1977 (S) MGB 1.8 Roadster, finished in a striking Two Tone Grey Metallic with a contrasting Black Leather interior. This low ownership and relatively low mileage example is a car we had the pleasure of supplying some 3 years ago and one we are delighted to welcome back into stock.
First introduced in 1962, the MGB went on to become one of Britain’s most iconic sports cars, admired for its clean Pininfarina-influenced styling, mechanical simplicity and its ability to deliver enjoyable and usable open-top motoring. Today it remains one of the most recognisable and accessible classics available.
This particular example has had just 4 previous owners and has covered just over 75,500 miles. It presents as a real head-turner, having clearly been the subject of an extensive and well-considered rebuild, which today shows in the quality of the paint finish along with the overall fit, stance and presence of the car. The unique two-tone colour scheme sets it apart beautifully, while a set of 15-inch Polished Edge Anthracite Grey Minilite alloy wheels complement the look perfectly, giving the car a slightly more purposeful stance while remaining very much in keeping with its classic character.
Under the bonnet sits the lead-free 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engine which fires readily into life and maintains strong oil pressure both hot and cold. This is paired to the desirable 4-speed manual gearbox with fully operational overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears, making for a more relaxed and enjoyable driving experience when required.
Inside, the car offers a very well-presented cabin with Black Leather seats, complemented by a more recent Black carpet set and refreshed trim, giving a smart and cohesive feel throughout. A period-style DAB radio has been fitted for modern usability, while a recently replaced Black Leather steering wheel completes the driving environment nicely.
More recently the car has benefitted from a new Mohair OE-spec hood, complete with the desirable opening rear window, ideal for improved ventilation. When lowered, a half tonneau cover provides a neat and tidy finish. Mechanically the car has been well maintained under previous ownership, with recent works including a new fuel tank and sender unit, along with replacement shock absorbers and link arms.
Within the office we hold a good level of more recent history for the car, all presented in one of our RFH Classics presentation folders, complete with supporting MOT history along with the latest service and parts invoices, helping to build a clear and reassuring picture of the car’s more recent life. This is a very eye catching and well sorted MGB Roadster that stands out for both its appearance and usability and one that is ready to be enjoyed as we head into the summer months.
RFH Classics are proud to be Bedfordshire’s largest independent classic car dealer, with over 35 years of experience supplying quality vehicles you can buy with confidence.
