With us here at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this beautifully presented 1973 (L) MGB Roadster 1.8, finished in the wonderfully period shade of Blaze and complemented by a contrasting Black Vinyl interior with matching Black hood. A colour synonymous with the 1970s, Blaze perfectly suits the flowing lines and chrome detailing of the MGB, giving this example a distinctive character while remaining entirely in keeping with its era.

Within the accompanying history is a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirming Blaze as the car’s original factory colour and recording that it was originally supplied through Thomas Greenwood & Sons Ltd of Halifax, Yorkshire. Details such as these add genuine appeal to a classic, particularly as the car still wears its factory-correct colour more than fifty years later.

The accompanying paperwork is now collated in one of our own RFH Classics History Folders and includes a selection of older MOT certificates together with invoices and receipts dating between 1987 and 1993. With the car’s history we also have a separate folder containing an extensive collection of photographs documenting the car’s restoration and providing a valuable visual record of the work undertaken. While not every year of the car’s life is documented, the combination of the Heritage Certificate, History folder and the photographic record give this MGB a particularly interesting and tangible history.

Externally, the vibrant Blaze paintwork is complemented by bright chrome bumpers, excellent exterior trim and the distinctive chrome finished Rostyle wheels, giving the car an authentic period appearance that perfectly suits the MGB’s timeless lines. Inside, the Black Vinyl trim contrasts beautifully with the exterior with the original dashboard layout and traditional instruments remain exactly as an enthusiast would expect. Weather protection, when required, comes in the form of a Black folding vinyl hood that is in great condition.

Under the bonnet you find a very clean engine bay housing a lead-free 1798cc four cylinder petrol engine that is paired with the four speed manual gearbox complete with overdrive for both third and fourth gears. This remains one of the most sought after drivetrain combinations that goes to provide an engaging driving experience. Having prepared and sold many MGB’s over the years, it is always pleasing to find an example that offers more than simply attractive presentation. The documented history, extensive restoration photographs and desirable factory specification all go together to make a very desirable British sports car.

The car benefits from Historic Vehicle status, meaning it qualifies for free historic road tax and is exempt from ULEZ charges. Although vehicles of this age are MOT exempt, as part of our preparation process we have had the car tested with a fresh MOT test providing additional peace of mind for the next owner. It is eligible for low cost classic car insurance and is supplied with our three-month major mechanical warranty.
