With us at RFH Classics we are delighted to bring to the market for the first time in 51 years this 1967 (F) Aston Martin DB6 MK1 Automatic, a car that comes with a remarkable history including long term ownership by the same gentleman. First registered on 21 September 1967, this DB6 left the famous Newport Pagnell works finished in Mink and came equipped with its 4.0-litre straight-six engine and Borg-Warner auto gearbox. With a new price approaching £5,000 it is perhaps difficult to appreciate today just how exclusive car was when new. To put it in comparison, at a time the average British house cost little more than £4,000.

In May 1980 the previous owner took possession of the car and went on to own the car for the remainder of his life, a period spanning more than half a century. It was during this time that in 1989 it was subsequently refinished in the now Dubonnet Rosso. Now I think we all agree that any DB6 is a special car in its own right, however it is the history that accompanies this car that makes it particularly fascinating. In the office we have the exceptional archive of paperwork, photographs, invoices, manuals and correspondence that has been accumulated during his ownership. Indeed, it is possibly the largest collection of history we have received with any car. One particularly charming piece of this history is the handwritten journey journal, recording all the use of the Aston during his ownership and providing an unusually personal insight into life with the car over many years.

The history documents substantial expenditure and work during the late 1980s which included repairs to the inner sill and chassis areas together with engine and rear axle rebuilds, suspension work and replacement front seats. After this the car returned to the road in 1989 sporting its new colour. The speedo currently displays a little over 20,000 miles. Given the length of ownership and information contained within the history, we believe this cars mileage is now on it’s second go around however due to the age of the car, we make no representation to the mileage. What is important and nice to know is that the car was regularly used and maintained rather than being locked away in long term storage. It has a comprehensive MOT history that forms part of its extensive records. When collected, the car was driven back by us for the 15 or so mile journey back to the showroom without issue.

In the interests of transparency it should be noted that we are not offering any opinion on its condition instead relying upon a future owner to make their own assessment of its condition. We are not representing it as a restored or concours DB6 and from the pictures shown, you are able to see some visible areas of the bodywork displaying age related patina that may, subject to personal preference, require attention. As with many period British sports cars there is evidence of some fluid leakage which is to be expected on a motor car approaching sixty years old. Its condition, history and likely future requirements have been taken into consideration when arriving at the price.

For this reason, we encourage any serious prospective buyer to inspect the Aston personally and, if desired, arrange an independent inspection by an appropriately qualified engineer or specialist. This report would then go on to represent the car’s condition and form part of its history providing a useful record of its condition at the point of sale. This is your opportunity to acquire a lower ownership, well documented DB6 with long term provenance and history to match. This could either be a car to be enjoyed and improved progressively or form the basis of more extensive future refurbishment according to its next owner’s wishes. Given the age and nature of the Aston, we will not be providing our usual mechanical warranty with this particular vehicle. We recommend that the car is collected from our premises rather than undertaking a substantial journey immediately. Viewing by appointment only at our showroom, where prospective purchasers will be given ample opportunity to inspect both the car and its comprehensive history. The car qualifies for Historic tax and is ULEZ exempt. MOT exempt due to its age, it has been regularly MOT tested, most recently passing in August 2026. Comes with a vehicle history certificate confirming no finance or insurance loss.
