The name “LD” is commonly believed to stand for Lusso Discreto (discreet luxury), a fitting description given its enclosed engine, leg shields and clean, elegant styling. These features were designed to appeal to everyday riders who wanted practicality, weather protection and reliability without sacrificing style.

The LD150, introduced shortly after the LD125, offered increased performance from its 150cc two-stroke engine while retaining the same civilised manners and sophisticated appearance. By the mid-1950s the LD had become a symbol of Italian optimism and mobility, widely used across Europe and exported around the world. Production of the LD series continued until 1957, making this example one of the final iterations of this highly respected model line.
