The car, which is eligible for historic racing such as the Mille Miglia drives and brakes straight no rattles and very smooth and you would need to go a long way to find such a perfect usable motor car of this age.
Ownership History
This beautiful car was manufactured on the 24 March 1953 and originally sold through Sanderson-Homes on 22 May 1953 to Mr Miles of Derby. He went on to keep the car until April 1956 where it was sold to Mr Truman of Nottingham who owned the car until January 1959. The third owner, a Barrie Foster of Nottingham seems to have only owned the car for a short period as it was sold to Forster Prowse Motors, East Ham in September 1961. Forster Prowse subsequently went on to sell the car to Anthony Parks of Christchurch who owned the car for some ten years before selling the car back to the third owner Barrie Foster who owned it until June 1987. Mr Ian Humphries of Hazelwood, Derbyshire sold the car in May 1998 to Michael Ridley of Newport Shropshire who kept it until November 1999 where it was sold to the last registered keeper, Mr Morgan whose ownership was nearly 24 years.
Car Background

The car is presented in its original colours of Old English White with Blue Leather and all matching numbers as per the original build record. To accompany the car to its next custodian there is an extensive history file containing substantial invoices, old MOT tests, old Tax discs, previous Buff Logbook, Jaguar Service and Maintenance Book, Original Tool Kit and a very nice set off custom book luggage that was made for the car by Auto-Luggage of England.
Model History
When launched at 1948 London Motor Show the car originally offered in open-two seater and roadster variants and was done as a test bed and show car for the new XK engine that was designed by Jaguar Chief Engineer William Heynes. The ‘120’ in the name referred to the cars 120mph top speed which made it the world’s fastest production car at the time of the launch. In 1949 the first production car, chassis 670003 was delivered to the film star Clark Gable and in 1951 the first XK120 was built. Ultimately a total of 1,765 LHD and RHD cars were produced in the three variants, with only 294 RHD cars being built. The XK120 was very successful at both racing and rallying with certain Special Equipment cars being built between 1948 and 1949 and denoted by an ‘S’ preceding the chassis number.
