AUSTIN A40

With us at RFH Classics we have this 1961 Austin A40 Farina finished in Camulus Grey with a Snowberry White Roof. This beautiful example has come to us from long term previous ownership and was sold to the previous owner by one of our long term customers back in 2013. When you look at the A40 you have to remind myself its a 63 years old car, its in great condition and a real credit to its former owners. This is the MKII version that was introduced in 1961 so the car is one of the earlier MKII's. With the introduction of the MKII came subtle modifications, externally it gained a wider front grille with the interior getting new styling for dash along with improved rear passenger seating area by way of the longer wheelbase.

The interior is the original Cardinel Red and Grey trim which complements the new Red carpets just fitted. This car has the full glass rear window with the opening lower tailgate allowing you to get access to the boot and spare wheel located below the boot floor. Under the bonnet is as well preserved as the rest of the car with the well proven 948cc petrol 4 cylinder engine that is paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox.

In the office we have an extensive history file that goes with the car and contains lots of history including a large selection of old MOT tests dating back to 1998 and would indicate the displayed mileage could be correct. In addition the folder has a large selection of invoices and receipts for work undertaken as well as the Heritage Certificate that confirms the car was a RHD De-Luxe Model that left the factory towards the end of September 1961 and was sold through Lankesters Ltd of Surbiton. The file also contains a picture history of the restoration work done to the car. We drove the car from its previous owner and can confirm it drives lovely with no smoking or crunching gears and for sure this beautiful example is not going to hang around.
