Here with us at RFH Classics we are pleased to offer this eye-catching 1960 Triumph TR3 Roadster finished in a vibrant Bright Red with a contrasting Black interior piped in White. This stunning example is a sitting on the original style pressed steel wheels complete with chrome centre hubcaps and is a car that captures the charm of British open top motoring at its best.
Under the bonnet of this Triumph TR3 sits a lead free 4 cylinder 1991cc engine which from new would have offered around 100bhp, a strong performance for the era. Known for its reliability and eager character, the engine would have given the lightweight TR3 impressive pace when paired with its twin SU carburettors. Power from this is delivered via a 4 speed manual gearbox.
Using the data available from the chassis number we can tell the was built in late 1959 for the home market but was registered in 1960. Despite the car was originally built for the UK market at some point in its life it has been used overseas before returning to the UK in 1981, as shown on the V5 records.
Included with the car we have a substantial history file which contains details of a restoration which was conducted in 2008 with a wealth of parts supplied being supplied to restorer by Moss Europe. In the file are these receipts for a considerable amount to support this. Also contained in the file we have MOT records from 2009 until 2017 suggesting the work was completed by in 2009. The interior seat trim, carpets, detachable vinyl hood and full tonneau cover remain still in excellent condition indicating and showing the care and quality of the previous work undertaken, especially given how little it has been used since completion.
The last owner acquired the vehicle in 2014 and during his ownership went on to cover fewer than 800 miles covered during his ownership during which it was always garaged. The cars general condition makes it clear it has been very well looked after. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a true British classic that is ready to be driven and admired providing a car that has an amazing presence on the road.
Although exempt from MOT testing due to its age, we will supply this Triumph with the benefit of a service and new MOT test providing additional reassurance for the next owner. As a historic vehicle, it is exempt from both road tax and ULEZ charges, adding to the ease and affordability of ownership.
