AUSTIN MINI

Arriving this week at RFH Classics we have this delightful 1983 (A) Austin Mini Mayfair finished in Leyland White with a contrasting Black roof. An instantly recognisable British icon, this Mayfair presents beautifully and carries a lovely story behind it.

Restored under the ownership of its last but one keeper in 2011/12, the car benefited from an well executed refurbishment which included a colour change from its original Black to the sportier crisp White you see today. At the same time the car gained a tasteful interior upgrade with the Half Black Leather seats and Wooden Dashboard being sourced from a limited edition Mini 30 resulting in the car now being given a more upmarket, classic meets retro feel.

The last owner purchased the car in 2013 and added to his small collection of cherished classics, one of which also includes a car previously supplied from us. During his 11 year stewardship he has maintained the Mini carefully and added some finishing touches like the addition of the charming Roundels.

Introduced in 1982, the Mini Mayfair sat at the more luxurious end of the classic Mini range being designed to offer buyers a refined, comfortable version of Britain’s favourite small car. It featured improved sound insulation, unique seating materials, additional interior trim and stylish exterior detailing which was an attempt by British Leyland to modernise the Mini while retaining its unmistakable character. Despite being intended as a more “grown-up” Mini, it still delivered all the fun, nimble handling and charm the model is famous for.

This 1983 example captures the spirit of the Mayfair perfectly classic Mini personality with a touch of refinement. Full photos, video and a detailed advert will follow shortly.
